Milkyway in Cygnus

The Milkyway Galaxy is a wonderful expanse of starry clouds sprinkled with objects of infinite variety and interest both to the scientist and photographer.  Immediately noticed in this section is the dark band through the center called the Great Rift which is composed of dust clouds obscuring the view of millions of stars.  The 3 brightest stars make up the Summer Triangle and are Deneb (the tail of the constellation Cygnus the Swan) to the left of center, Vega at the top (in the constellation Lyra), and Altair to the bottom right (in the constellation Aquila.  Also seen is the collection of red emission nebula including NGC7000 (the North American Nebula) just below Deneb and several smaller nebula around the star Gamma Cygni just to the right of Deneb.
