Axl and Erin married on April 27, 1990. Erin has said that Axl "proposed" marriage to her by coming over to her home at 4 a.m. and threatening to kill himself unless she married him that day. They drove to Las Vegas that day and married in a quickie ceremony. Less than a month after the wedding, Axl filed for divorce but later changed his mind. That same year, Erin became pregnant and had a miscarriage. Not long after the miscarriage, Axl was arrested for hitting a female neighbor over the head with a bottle. Axl, who has been diagnosed as a manic depressive, said that Erin's miscarriage had sent him into an emotional tailspin and prompted the outburst against the neighbor. Axl and Erin had also planned to move into a brand-new house but Axl trashed the house before they had a chance to move in.
