"Much can be said for social savoir-faire,
But to rejoice when no one else is there
Is even harder than it is to weep;
No one is watching, but you have to leap." - W. H. Auden

Actor's Plaque Mistakenly Honors King's AssassinLAUDERHILL, Fla. (Reuters) - A plaque intended to honor black actor James Earl Jones at a Florida celebration of the life of Martin Luther King instead paid tribute to James Earl Ray, the man who killed the black civil rights leader, officials said on Wednesday.
The embarrassing mix-up was caused by an error by the plaque's designer, the owner of the company that ordered the plaque said. It was being corrected in time for Jones' visit to the Fort Lauderdale suburb on Saturday.
Over a background featuring stamps of famous black Americans, including King, the erroneous plaque read, ``Thank you James Earl Ray for keeping the dream alive.''
He was the man who shot and killed King in a Memphis hotel in 1968. King is honored across the nation on Jan. 21, Martin Luther King Day.
``We were very upset,'' said Gerald Wilcox, owner of Lauderhill-based Adpro, which ordered the plaque for the city. ''We wanted to find out how a mistake of this magnitude could occur and to try to determine if it was deliberate or not.''
Wilcox said his company made it clear to the plaque's manufacturer, Texas-based Merit Industries, that the message was for James Earl Jones, the Tony Award-winning actor who voiced the roles of Darth Vader in ``Star Wars'' and Mufasa in ''The Lion King.''
Merit Industries said the mix-up was caused by a typographical error.
``We in no way meant any disrespect. It was an honest error,'' said Herbert Miller, the owner of Merit Industries.

Rez Interview - digitaltaco
Rez is a really amazing game. You know that I felt that way if you read my hands-on impressions in our
Rez First Look. But since I picked up the game yesterday, my love for the game has increased dramatically. The final level of the game alone is such an engrossing artistic experience, that I can guarantee that the title will be a permanent part of my collection. So, haing just released the game, Tetsuya Mizuguchi is ready to talk about his latest creation. That's where
GameSpot UK comes in. They have posted a new interview with the man behind the game in question and here's what it looks like:
GameSpot: What was the inspiration for Rez?
Tetsuya Mizuguchi: Hmm. It's a difficult question. I'd have to say a rave I went to in Europe in 1995. It was a huge indoor party, and there were about 5000 people dancing. The sounds and light were all synchronized. I felt something. I imagined DJing - the sounds, lights, music, and everything. I thought it would be fun for a player.
GameSpot: How did you decide on Rez's gameplay?
Tetsuya Mizuguchi: I wanted to make a shooter first, because it's a physical and simple type of game. The first image I had was being in a tube with the music notes coming at you in 3D, so you shoot the sound coming at you. So I imagined it would be new and fun, which is the reason I decided to make it a shooting game.
The interview will give you quite a bit of insight on how Mizuguchi-san developed the title. And it's quite an interesting read. Check it out by clicking
