bio.
"...it all started with
the Yellow Door. Pete Frame has described this lost Lambeth Shangri-La as a pre-hippie commune. It was Soho's South London outpost and an all purpose crashpad for many later to be household names. Jack Elliot and Derroll Adams lived there, Tommy Steele, Lionel Bart and Mike Pratt put their first songs together in that bizarre atmosphere,
more like Henry Miller's Paris than Lambeth Walk. "

obviously not a freeze out
your voice is very loud
do you think there's no one
who will speak to you
she speaks to you honey
speaks low
and says things worthy
of note:
I carry in my arms
bear on my back
and bring home
the sacrifice that will
bring us through
the coming year
a deers head
ribbons from the dancers shoes
white tights tutu dancers things
and random bits of jungle
white snake pigeons wings
Donga bat
two cats eye marbles
and she's ready for you
she's rolling round for you
her legs are open
her dress is up
her ears are pierced and hung with string
listening to anything you got to say
you can say it quietly
and then sweet girl will answer you
listen to everything you got to speak
telling you everything you want to hear Copyright © Patti Smith 1971

From "The Orson Welles Show" (1979)

Here is an interview with
Kevin Hanley. He reads this blog you asshead.
I turned 28 the other day and someone reminded me of this LP by Bert Jansch that I like.
Here's some info:
"Bert Jansch was an influential artist in the early sixties. He was credited as an influence on 'Buffalo Springfield Again' - shame they couldn't spell his name correctly. His version of Blackwaterside turned up
on a Led Zeppelin album. His Needle of Death was reworked by Neil Young as
Ambulance Blues. Donovan recorded a number of his songs. Jansch went on to become a founder member of Pentangle. He is still recording as a solo artist and occasionally with the re-formed Pentangle. "

"...kittens drowning in milk, pheasants wandering in freeway lanes, lumberjacks
taking chainsaws to chalkboards, firemen burning down their own
firehouses, coffee spilled on khakis, rohypnal lip balm, turtles used as
bowling balls, wheelchair racing down steep steps, smoking toenails in a
bong, wooden sparrows on trees of feathers, forks jabbed in toasters,
nobody fed the dog, lightning striking again and again in the same place
over and over." - Mark Lewman, 11/6/01
