Pictures of the natural world

The dusk flight of whimbrels into Monomoy. With Winty Harrington in August, 1993. Winty had discovered that, after spending the day at Wellfleet refueling on hermit crabs, migrating whimbrels retire at dusk to Monomoy Island. Perhaps it is for shelter, or perhaps it is to stage for their trans-ocean migration flight. Click for large image.
