So seeing as the rain had now stopped a little we decide a bet was in order. So seeking out a bookie, well the Toto is so boring, I placed a bet on the Gold Cup race. Risking all on a bet to win !. The race turned out to be very exciting and I have to admit to jumping up and down a bit as the finish line drew closer. However, in the end it was not to be, and we finished second :(. So here I am a bit disappointed. Still there was always the next race.
Well race over we returned to the grandstand to see what else was happening. Soon we spotted the Guardsman getting ready for their show in the bandstand. Well if the police can do it why not a guardsman :), he seemed to be a bit concerned to protect himself . Wonder what I said to him !
After a while we decided that the paddock and unsaddling enclosure was the place to be. Not having a ticket was the main problem , but we just walked in like we owned the place and no one even asked :). Pity the Royal Enclosure wasn't quite as easy. The nearest I got was the entrance but maybe next year.
Well that was it for Ascot this year. Hopefully I'll be asked to go again ?, but then there is always Henley Regatta, Cartier Polo or Wimbledon. So many places to visit.
