<----- For this image alone "Unite or Die" would be my favorite episode, but it's just the tip of the iceberg. Additional reasons why I enjoy this one so much:

Simple catch phrase title - it rallied the colonial fence-sitters and still works today.

FFILF Jefferson never looked hotter.

The mock guillotine and fired-up mob.

TJ threatens to pack up his toys and go home. Oh wait, that's every episode.

The scary tea social with Abigail and John.

Trash-talkin' adolescent Ambassadors.

The way Dillane rocks the gray silk suit.

The ass-chewing by Washington.

Jefferson's womanish attachment to France.

The Hamilton/Jefferson Bitch-Fest. It may have annoyed Washington, but amuses me to no end.

Return to Philadelphia

adams5000pz.jpg

"You must find Philadelphia much changed, Mr. Jefferson."

"More changed than I could have imagined, Mr. Hamilton. Not the city itself. All cities swallow everything in their wake, that's why I abhor them..."

adams5000nz.jpg

"I've been, as you know, in revolutionary France, where the streets are filled with songs of liberty and brotherhood, and the overthrow of ancient tyrannies of Europe...and to return from there to this, our cradle of revolution, and find the dinner table chatter is all of money and banks and authority.. is an unwelcome surprise."

adams5001zh.jpg

"Unwelcome perhaps, but necessary."

adams5000lz.jpg

adams5001zc.jpg

"I fear our revolution will have been in vain if a Virginia farmer is to be held in hock to a New York stockjobber who in turn is in hock to a London banker!"

adams5000hz.jpg

"The opportunities for avarice and corruption would certainly prove.. irresistible."

adams5001ze.jpg

"Well there you have it. I've heard it said, if men were angels, no government would be necessary." ~ Hamilton

Hangin' with the Adams'

adams560bz.jpg

adams561bz.jpg

"It's in a state of almost permanent revolution, Monticello. No sooner had I completed it than I wished to tear it down and start again."

"I want to build a new portico, triangular pediment, on four great pillars."

adams563za.jpg

"Look John, isn't it magnificent?"

adams563zb.jpg

adams563zj.jpg

"We were worried for your safety in Paris, Thomas. The papers are full of the most alarming reports. The Bastille Commander's head carried through the streets on a pike!"

adams562bz.jpg

"France is in the middle of a violent birth. You should rejoice, John."

adams562jz.jpg

"The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants. It's a natural manure."

adams562ez.jpg

adams560jz.jpg

"You mean to say that you involved yourself in revolutionary activities as our acting Ambassador?!" ~ Adams

adams563ze.jpg

adams562fz.jpg

"Lafayette sought my advice on drafting of the Declaration of the Rights of Man and I was happy to oblige, yes. I was in the Assembly Nationale when it was proclaimed. In fact you could say the Constitution of France was conceived in my parlor."

adams560kz.jpg

adams563zk.jpg

"You must be careful, John. I find Thomas much changed."

Ya think?

adams523zc.jpg

"And MR. JEFFERSON! I will NOT have this government undermined by party politics and acts!!!"

adams5700zb.jpg

The French Ambassador

adams5700zm.jpg

adams5700zj.jpg

adams5700za.jpg

adams5700zg.jpg

"Mr. Jefferson - Ambassador Genet has taken leave of his senses."

adams5700zd.jpg

adams5700zc.jpg

adams5700zi.jpg

"Mr. Hamilton would have us British in our economy, British in our forms of government, British, John, in all but name!"

"At any rate, I've offered the President my resignation. My departure will be a great relief to me, and no great loss to the public."

"It will be a great loss to me, Thomas."

Hamilton: "Interesting, is it not, how political plants grow in the shade of retirement."

He's baaaaack...
