DAN COSTELLO- singer/songwriter and guitar

Blending classical, bluegrass, progressive rock, jazz, and folk may be difficult, even hazardous, but singer-songwriter and guitarist Dan Costello is up to the challenge. His performance experience ranges from hard rock bands to jazz ensembles to medieval instrumental troupes. He earned a Bachelor’s of Music degree in classical guitar in 2001 and has worked both in and out of the scholastic realm as a performer, accompanist, editor, composer, arranger, lyricist, teacher, and management. Costello has shared the stage with Steve Miller, Third Eye Blind, Robert Earl Keen, and other excellent national and local talent.

Recently Dan has been featured as a soloist on local access TV Channel 11’s “Boise City Limits” and on the radio with KBSU’s “Music from Stanley.” He also serves on the faculty at Boise State University’s Department of Music. Despite a myriad of other endeavors and an eye-popping 250-shows-per-year schedule with various other projects, the music and friendship forged within Stella keeps this band his primary musical passion. Costello is an outspoken advocate of local grassroots music.

SCOTT LINDBLOOM- drums, acoustic guitar and vocals

Scott was the product of two musicians. His mother nurtured his first inclinations to bang on stuff by giving him drumsticks. His father eventually introduced him to the guitar, which he has been known to play on occasion for acoustic Stella performances. A majority of his musical training came through the public schools, several years of private study with local educators, and attendance of a variety of diverse musical acts.

Influenced early on by the technical intricacy of Neil Peart, intrigued by the bombastic groove of John Bonham, and shaped by the thoughtful feel of Manu Katche, his training continues by learning and experimenting with many different styles. Lindbloom's finesse and stylistic interpretations of music provide an integral element within Stella’s sound. Hannah, Stella’s most loyal fan (left), sometimes sits in with the band

ROB HILL- fretted, fretless, and electric upright basses

Rob Hill grew up listening to his father playing bass and guitar. By age 11, Hill picked up his dad’s Rickenbacker bass and was immediately hooked. While attending high school he joined the orchestra and jazz choir, which eventually inspired Hill to attend Boise State University where he received a Bachelor’s degree in Music Performance. While attending BSU, in 1994, he began to collaborate with Dan Costello and Scott Lindbloom, which would solidify the core of musicians known as Stella.

Rob Hill's keen ear and bass playing style has been a hot commodity in Boise’s local music scene, as an educator and performer, he has accompanied and been featured by Rebecca Gourley and Kelly Martin from Crash Four, Jeremiah James, Rebecca Scott, and Ben Burdick.

VINCENT MIRESSE- percussion and didjeridu

Collaborative design and the creative fusion of styles and genres are artist, performer, accompanist, and educator, Vincent Miresse’s musical objective. Formal studies in history, anthropology, and music at the University of Wisconsin influenced his multifaceted stylistic interpretations of folk, jazz, and the exponential dimensions of world music. Miresse served as a chief artistic director, percussionist, dancer, and sculptor in the Mostly Dance, Sculpture, & Percussion Ensemble. He has performed with Tomas Rodriguez, Ken Bonfield, Michael Manring, Beth Wood, Pedro Villagra, Bradley Fish, Art Stevenson and Highwater, The Reptile Palace Orchestra, and Sloppy Joe.

He has also shared the stage with The Indigo Girls, Jackson Browne, and jazz great, Greg Osby, while accompanying different ensembles. Miresse has also worked closely with dancers, choreographers, and artisans alike.

Vincent’s aspirations and style were furthered when he traveled to Australia to study the ethereal art of didjeridu and circular breathing, and also to Cuba to study Afro-Cuban musicianship and percussion, giving him a greater perspective of music's roll within community, cultural identity, and society.

Breaking even newer ground, he has co-founded the New Vibe jazz trio with Krispen Hartung, and has accompanied Hartung exploring the realm of avant-garde, spontaneous composition. Since his arrival in Boise, Idaho, Miresse has composed didjeridu music for The New Heritage Theater Company, accompanied a variety of talented local and national artists including Ben Burdick, Rebecca Scott, Jeremiah James, Kevin Kirk and Onomatopoeia, and Tomas Rodriguez. Most notably has been added to the line up of Boise’s favorite band Stella.
