A little bit about the book...
Realistic Alzheimer's Activities_ describes many activities appropriate for each level of functioning for those with Alzheimer's. Each topic has a description of:
For example:
TOPIC: Alphabet Word Game
FUNCTIONING LEVEL: All except lowest. The group should be a mixture of the other levels. Responses of the higher functioning members often provide stimulation for the lower functioning members.
GOAL: To stimulate thought processes.
MATERIALS: Cards displaying each letter of the alphabet. These can easily be made with large index cards and a dark marking pen.
PROCEDURE: Hold up card and ask them to think of a word beginning with that letter. Ask for information as many times as necessary. Accept as many responses for each letter as they can supply. Praise each participant for his/her response. This game can be played in a group or even adapted to use with one person, in your home.
