Murray Suid
My work life divides messily
into three pieces:
• "Words of a
Feather": What’s
the connection between mortgage & mortician? How about the links between maneuver & manure? pencil & penis? dictator
& dictionary? or rectitude & rectum? "Words of a Feather" goes beyond the peculiarities of linguistics to provide
practical advice on a variety of subjects. For example, the thank & think entry gives a mini-lesson on how to make kids
smarter while polishing their manners. The anger & angina mini-essay might actually save a few lives. Or at least bring
on a few smiles. For more information on the book: www.wordsofafeather.net
• CollegeSurvivalSkills.org: This nonprofit company will publish "free" online
workshops designed to help under-prepared students pass college courses...and then become lifelong learners. If our mission
seems impossible, then you understand what we're trying to accomplish. Your advice is welcome at www.CollegeSurvivalSkills.org or by phone at 415.663.9285.
•
Point Reyes Pictures: This for-profit (but currently profitless) company will produce entertaining movies
on less-than-shoestring budgets. "The ESP Affair" is in pre-production, while "Purely Coincidental" and "House of Screams" are in development. This notice is not a solicitation
to investors, but if you have a pile of money to gamble with, head for www.PointReyesPictures.com.
