MORE TENNIS!!
At Orchid Court, you have you own private tennis court, of course. But if you would like to play with others on the island -- both vacationers and residents -- you can certainly drive over to the Westin Resort, where visitors are welcome most days of the week, either in the mornings or the late afternoons. The charge is quite reasonable, and you will have the opportunity to play singles, doubles, or mixed-doubles. The Westin's "open tennis" schedule varies with the seasons, so check with the tennis pro at the Westin once you arrive: (340) 693-8000.
Also, Caneel Bay, the other large resort on St. John, offers round-robin events regularly. You may call them at (340) 776-6111. _

THE BEST BEACHES!
Everyone's list is a little different, but the beaches we enjoy the most are the Hawksnest Bay beach, Cinnamon Bay, and Trunk Bay beaches. The Maho Bay beach though, is also very nice, and to see the most wildlife your best choice would be the Francis Bay beach.

THE BEST HIKING TRAILS!
One of the more challenging trails, but definitely the one affording the most magnificent views, is the trail beginning at Salt Pond beach and proceeding to Ram Head Point. Bring your camera! |

For all-down-hill hikes through forested parts of the Park, consider starting at the Cinnamon Bay trailhead -- just off Centerline Road (Route 10) -- and walking down the trail to Cinnamon Bay beach. You will see some well-maintained Danish ruins along the way, and it's always great to end a St. John hike with a swim in the ocean. For a guided trail hike, that is also all-down-hill, be sure to call the National Park headquarters as soon as you get to St. John and sign up for the "Reef Bay Trail hike"; this popular all-down-hill walk books up quickly (776-6201).
