HP versus ET versus 0-60

Here is the curve fit of the Car and Driver performance data (578 points):

ET,sec = 3.9 + 5.93 * LN( 0-60,sec )

Avg absolute error (abs(pred ET - act ET)) is .0062 sec

This relationship can be combined with the following general correlation:

1/4 ET, sec = 5.825*(wt, lb/road HP)^.3333

Trap speed, MPH = 234*(road HP/wt, lb)^.3333

(Notice that ET = 1363/Trap Speed)

For the 96 Maxima 5sp, avg performance seems to be 6.7 and 15.2

15.2 would give a calc 0-60 of 6.72. Pretty good...

And for a wt of 3050, an ET of 15.2 => HP = 172 at the road.

HP ratio is 172/190 = .905

Seems pretty good...

Shaun's dyno showed 179.

OK, starting with Shaun's numbers...

179 and 3050 => 15.0 ET and 6.5 0-60

C&D SMX numbers were 6.4 and 15.1... Pretty good!

BTW: An ET of 14.8 requires a HP of 186 and give a 0-60 of 6.3
