The Beaman Home
Volunteers

Volunteer Opportunities

Children/Childcare Activities
  • Assist staff and parents with childcare while parents attend classes, therapy and during other shelter activities.
  • Childcare volunteers are needed throughout the week on a frequent basis.

Lawn Care/Snow Removal

  • Weekly maintenance of the lawn and other outside projects.
  • Snow removal off sidewalks and driveways during the winter as needed.

Client Transport

  • Transportation of clients to court dates, meetings, doctors' appointments and various other places is very important.  There is no specific set schedule; however, arrangements are made as far in advance as possible.

Office Help

  • There are many opportunities both at the shelter and administrative offices.  We have some big projects ahead and can always use help with the exciting stuff!!  Sample projects include mailings, data entry, assisting with locating volunteers and other projects as needed.

Answer Crisis Hotline

  • Incoming crisis calls need to be answered as soon as the phone rings.  Volunteers are needed to answer the calls and help with shelter projects while waiting for the crisis line to ring.

Maintenance

  • We are very thankful to have the Beaman Home Shelter but due to its age, keeping up with maintenance can be challenging.  We are always in need of handy people to help maintain the home.

Special Needs

  • We are currently looking for a good writer to help Beaman Home tell our story and share our Survivors' stories.  If you are a student, this would be a wonderful way for you to get some "real world" experience and help a great organization fulfill their mission.
