INTRODUCTION





Robert F. Spoeri & Associates is a professional corporation, incorporated pursuant to the Business and Professions Code of the State of California in November of 1985. We are composed of the following attorneys:



Robert F. Spoeri, Ronald E. Steensland, Steven S. Brodie, Kevin Charles Prys, James M. Carson, and Halyna O. Kulczycky.



We are proud of our attorneys and our office staff and we, as a group, endeavor to provide to our clients the service they have a right to expect. Robert F. Spoeri & Associates practices in the areas of Workers' Compensation, General Liability, Auto Liability, Product Liability, Subrogation, Family Law Matters, and certain criminal matters including the defense of the accused for cases involving driving under the influence of alcohol. The firm specializes in the defense of the employer in claims for Serious and Willful Misconduct and Labor Code § 132(a) allegations.



We handle cases throughout Southern California. From our office we routinely appear at all of the Civil courts, Criminal courts, and the Workers' Compensation boards in Southern California including Santa Monica, Los Angeles, Van Nuys, Oxnard, Anaheim, Pomona, Riverside, San Bernardino, Santa Ana, San Diego, Bakersfield, Goleta, Grover Beach, and Palm Springs/Indio.





PHILOSOPHY OF HANDLING CASES



The firm believes in the aggressive handling of all files, while always bearing in mind the overall expense factor. We also feel that cases should be moved forward carefully but as quickly as is prudent. We consistently work to achieve the best overall result for the client.



Each client is the personal responsibility of one of the attorneys in the firm. He/she manages the client's interests on a day-to-day basis and is directly responsible to the client. The attorney will handle the assigned file to conclusion. Continuity of file handling by the assigned attorney is important to us and helps insure the best results.



Individually, and as a group, we have considerable experience in litigation. We are well acquainted with the attorneys, doctors, judges and expert witnesses in all aspects of our practice. In order to acquaint you with our firm, the following are brief resumes of our attorneys and their qualifications:



ROBERT F. SPOERI earned his bachelor's degree from Loyola University of Chicago. This school awarded him an assistantship for graduate study and an M.A. in Modern European History in 1973. He studied law at Loyola (Chicago) and the National University of Ireland (Dublin). He served as an intern at the N.L.R.B. in Chicago and received his Juris Doctorate degree from Loyola in 1977. He practiced civil litigation with the Law Offices of John C. Kiely from 1977 to 1988, and worked for the Law Offices of William C. Heath from 1988 through 1989 defending workers' compensation cases. He has engaged in a general private law practice, which included criminal matters, served as corporate counsel for a small business, handled civil rights suits with the A.C.L.U., and acted as an Arbitrator for the American Arbitration Association. He is a member of the Irish American Bar Association. He is managing attorney for the County of Los Angeles, Gate Gourmet, Yoplait USA, Chubb, Golden Eagle Insurance, and also handles Special Investigation Unit work. Mr. Spoeri is the managing partner of the firm.



RONALD E. STEENSLAND is a native of Missoula, Montana, but grew up an Air Force "brat" on military bases. He graduated from Carleton College in 1968, and after a year of graduate work at Duke University, he spent four years with the Navy before coming to Los Angeles to attend USC Law Center in 1973. He was admitted to the California Bar Association in December, 1976. He worked for the National Association of Government Employees for about seven years, then started work as a workers' compensation defense attorney for Argonaut Insurance Company in 1985. He then worked as a senior staff attorney for Kemper National Insurance Companies from 1987 until July, 2001. Mr. Steensland joined the Law Offices of Robert F. Spoeri & Associates in 2001.




HALYNA O. KULCZYCKY is a graduate of the State University in Buffalo where she majored in Sociology. She received her Juris Doctorate degree from the University of West Los Angeles School of Law in 1988 and was admitted to the State Bar of California during the same year. Ms. Kulczycky has focused her practice on Workers' Compensation law, initially representing the injured employee and in 1990 joining a private law firm specializing in the defense of the employer in Workers' Compensation cases. She first began to work with our firm in 1992.





STEVEN S. BRODIE attended CSUN and  Pierce College where he majored in Music. Mr Brodie was a Music instructor at McCabes Music school, in Santa Monica, California from 1978- 1985.  He received his Juris Doctorate degree from the University of La Verne in 1988 and was admitted to the California State Bar in 1989. He interned at the Division of Labor Standards Enforcement in Van Nuys, CA, and the Public Defenders office in San Ferndan0, CA. Mr. Brodie has practiced in areas of personal injury, workers' compensation, and family law. Mr.  Brodie was also house counsel for Chubb Insurance for several years. He has served as Judge Pro Tem in Van Nuys and has served as Court appointed arbitrator/mediator in Civil matters. Mr Brodie also has experience in handling criminal matters. Mr Brodie joined the Law Offices of Robert F. Spoeri & associates in October, 2003.
