Quan Yin and the HarlequinBiography:

Dorothy Rossi is a veteran artist of over thirty years. For the past twenty-five years she has dedicated herself to creating primarily from dreams and psychological events. From this discipline a unique and individual method was developed which enables her to extract from dream images the essence of the night consciousness and juxtapose them onto the canvas in plastic terms. She claims that these dynamic forms animated and encourages can and very often bring about a psychological transformation.

"Painting for me is a portal into the mystery of the creative process. The study of ancient myths and working with dreams is my vehicle to explore and discover dark and wondrous currents within the psyche. I ride these currents in order to bridge the span of that great abyss that exists between the modern world of technology and the spiritual realms of the soul. It is then that featured images are born from the womb of the dream. My work is to translate these images into narrative plastic forms, animate and project them onto the canvas. And at times, to my wonder and amazement, the most archaic components ever preserved in the collective unconscious spring forth and are revealed."
