Submitted by Suzie Fiddament.  A couple of days ago our school librarian came to me asking for a favor.  She said that she had read the students a book and that it has a song in the back, and could a teach it to her to teach it to the kids.  I said it wouldn't be a problem and was thereby handed this wonderful book!  After reading it (I was drawn to the artwork and text as much as my curiosity pushed me toward the back of the book where the song was), I asked here if I could borrow it to add to my web-site...and obviously she agreed!  The Jolly Mon is a delightful story about the power and magic of music.  There are magical instruments, evil pirates, exotic locations (especially if your students live in the desert), friendly and wise animals, and a wonderful hero.  For a fantastic journey that's firmly based in the real world, I would definitely check this book out!  And, if you are interested in purchasing the album with a studio version of the song, click here!

This book was a gift....and what a great gift it was!  This wonderfully illustrated book reprints the entire libretto of this marvelously fun musical.   My students love following along with the CD!  There's really nothing else to say:   if you like the play and you like Quentin Blake (the illustrator), then get this book!
