I'm SUCH a big boy now!
|
 |
|
I have a new routine... Mom brings
me to work in the morning and opens my cage outside. I fly out, land on her shoulder, chatter with her for a few minutes,
try and pull out her earrings (I'm going to do it one of these days), then fly off. I fly around for a while, eat bugs,
check out all the trees, meet the other wild birds, etc., etc. When Mom gets off work, I fly back and land on her shoulder
so she can put me back in my cage and take me home for the night. I'm a big boy, but I'm not QUITE ready to spend the
night outside by myself every night yet (once was enough).
All throughout the day, I check
in with Mom. You're going to like the way I do it, too! I sit in the tree outside her office window, then hop
over and perch on the window frame making pathetic little cheeping sounds (I'm not really THAT pitiful, but I do a good impression)
until she opens her window. There's no screen, so I just hop in and onto her desk. I investigate her office, have
a little snack, steal a paper clip or a pen cap, then fly right back out the window! Crafty, huh? I know!
And it only took me two days to get Mom trained to leave her window cracked open all day so I can just go in and out whenever
I want. I'm very smart and Mom's a good student! Hooray for Mom!
See? This is what I do when I want into Mom's
office!
I sit and look pitiful right outside her window.
Woe is me... let me in!!!
Then Mom opens the window like a good girl...

... so I hop on in...
... and check out Mom's desk!
Today I decided to help myself to her bagel.
I'm really good at sharing!
(Sharing OTHER people's stuff, that is!)

Look at me hanging out with another jay like I'm a
real bird! That's me in the front (the good-looking one, if I do say so myself)!
