 Message from John Phelps

I encourage all of our members to try to present Manual speeches as much as possible!  We will need your help in achieving our Clubs' goals. By this, I mean striving towards Distinguished Club status. How do we do this?  In part by achieving your’ Advancement Awards, i.e.; CC, AC, CL, AL, DTM, etc.

Another part is to increase our membership. We all can be ambassadors to a degree. Talk it up! Tell all your friends and associates about the benefits of Toastmasters, and especially, our club!

Please do not hesitate to call on any of the club officers for guidance in achieving your educational awards goals. By all means, please do bring visitors, if you can.  I hope to see you all at our upcoming meetings.

Best Wishes, John Phelps

MESSAGE FROM JIM MARTIN

Like a real estate agent looking for the best location, the best way to ease nervousness is practice, practice, and more practice!

Rehearse in front of a mirror, visualize the audience, or if your lucky, like I am practice before a bed full of stuffed animals.  This way you can practice some excellent eye contact.

After you have practiced, make an outline you’re comfortable with, that won't signal to the audience that you’re using notes this can be anything from a written speech to key words.  Practice again.

When you are about to give a speech, check out where you are giving the presentation and what the room is like.  Let the energy of your nerves work for you.  This will help animate your presentation.  We don't kill Butterflies,, we let them fly to help you.

MESSAGE FROM AMY ABRAMS

In honor of Toastmaster's founder Ralph Smedley, the Smedley Award is presented to Clubs that add at lease five new members between September 1 and October 31 Now is the time for members to renew their dues, encourage other members to renew their dues, and to reach out to prospective members.

We will have a membership building contest for the next two months.  Each member that brings a guest will get 5 points, for guests that return an addition point is given and guests that join the club get and additional 5 points.  When the member gives a speech it is worth 2 points and 1 point for member participation in the meeting

Message from Shelby Schwartz

Hi Everyone,

I would like to invite members of our community to come to our Toastmasters Meetings and see how our club can help Members hone their listening, Speaking and Leadership Skills.

In fact, I didn't even know I had leadership abilites before becoming an Officer of this Club, and serving in different capacity's, including Past President, and a past Area 45 Governor!

In this respect Toastmasters is a definite confidence builder, and seeing is believing!  Come and visit our club!

Best Wishes in your endevors too!   Shelby

Dear Fellow Toastmasters,

It has been said that the number one fear in life, is not the fear of death or taxes, but public speaking! I recently saw a television program, where a renown actor, elaborated on that very subject. He could easily learn his lines and play before the camera, but ask him to be a guest speaker? Oh, my!

Do you remember the reason why you joined Toastmasters in the first place? For me, it was because my music director, encouraged me to become a better singer. Who would of guessed it? Becoming a Toastmaster, improved my singing, and public speaking skills; at the same time! How about you? I suspect that a number of our members were invited to join by another Toastmaster. Now it is your turn to do the same., and win some individual and/or club recognition awards at the same time.

We all should be inviting people to join, and what a better way to try it, by participating in a contest.  Who do you know, that may be interested? Invite them to join our club, who knows, you might win an award!. Thank you all.
