If the Greek gods can be seen as a dysfunctional family, wait
till you meet the Demeter's. Mystagogos is a contemporary re-examination of a true, but lost, Greek religious cult.
This is filmmaker- Jay Lee's second digital feature (preceeded by the musical-comedy 'Flutterblast'). Both films are
written and composed by Barry Goldberg.
Biogeneticest, Delores Demeter and her daughter Penelope are on
a working-vacation, examining genetically altered corn. The father, high school teacher Ernie is home doing his own
research on the lost Greek cult-'The Elusian Mysteries'. When his former student, Terry Hades, interrupts Ernie's study,
deep disturbances surface.
Goldberg and Gary Paulak have created a classic score to accompany
Lee's surreal cinematography. The American Midwest of the psychodrama-Mystagogos, is a landscape out of balance, with
a warning from an ancient civilization to our own.
