ARTIST'S STATEMENT

I conceive my art as sculpture.

It communicates through

Its tactile shapes and

Human warmed materials.

Brute matter that has been

In dialogue through

Our hands and eyes

From before our age began.

Ropes and sticks and rawhide,

Copper, vines and chains,

Stones, tarred felt and tea-leaves.

Bronze to strengthen our self-images.

The themes that run throughout

The art are windows, edges, cycles.

Books and songs and deconstructed

Shapes. The body's inner prison.
