Workshop: CONGO
January 24, 2009
Saturday, 9 am - 1:30 pm
at the Olympia Unitarian Universalist Church 2200 East End NW, Olympia
This workshop is designed with TEACHERS in mind.

with Geoff Johns and Carol Lutra-Johns, providing hands-on instruction on their interpretation
of "Congo," a rhythm and dance based on Haitian musical traditions.
Geoff and Carol will provide hands-on instruction and handouts. The rhythm is designed to be played on Afro-Brazilian percussion
instruments, but can be adapted to other instruments for students of all ages!

Instrument Rentals!
We have a great collection of percussion instruments ideal for Afro-Latin musical making. They are suitable for musical groups
in elementary through high school ages. Lots of fun, easy to play, durable, and culturally suited to Brazilian samba, Afro-Cuban,
and other cross-cultural music.
