DIRECTION OF TRAVEL

West Bound	Train travels counter-clockwise around the layout. Train leaves NWX yard on the high track of the wye or on the right traveling towards Midnight.
East Bound	Train travels clockwise around layout. Train leaves NWX yard on the low track of the Hillside wye crosses the Leah Kay Dibble bridge to Sometimes Later

OPERATION:

The work day on the M&SL begins when train 102, Morning Transfer Run, leaves Peoria for the NWX yard. The train delivers cars destined for the industries in the M&SL service area to the NWX yard for classification.

While Train 102 is headed toward the NWX yard, Train 1 departs Minneapolis and stops at the depots of Hillside, Sometimes Later, Lord's Depot, and Midnight picking up commuters going to work in Minneapolis.

After Train 102 arrives in the NWX yard, Train 201, Morning Midnight Way Freight and Train 202, Morning Sometimes Later Way Freight, depart the NWX yard. Both of these trains are made up at the end of the previous workday by the NWX Yardmaster.

While Trains 201 and 202 are working their way around M&SL on their way back to the NWX yard, the Yardmaster builds Trains 301, Afternoon Westbound Turn and 302 Afternoon Eastbound Turn. When Train 201 and 202 have completed their work trains 301 and 302 depart the NWX yard.

While trains 301 and 302 working their way around the M&SL property, the NWX Yardmaster builds Train 403, Transfer Train to Peoria. Train 403 contains cars picked up by Trains 201 & 202 for sending to Peoria.

When Trains 301 and 302 return to the NWX yard, Train 403 departs for Peoria. Train 403, Afternoon Commuter Train departs Minneapolis with works returning from Minneapolis.

After train 301 departs the NWX yardmaster builds trains 201 and 202 so they are ready for departure the next morning.
