Neutral Alignment, 2nd Quest (Level 20)
To complete this quest, you will need the following:
- You must be at least level 20. Only one person may complete this quest per 24-hour period.
- A party of at least three level 20s! A level 60 would be able to kill Beholder with no problem whatsoever!
- A rope and grapple.
- A log raft.
- A map of Silvermere, Darkwood Forest, Rocky Trail, Northern Forests, and Ancient Ruins. If you have MegaMUD, you will not need a map!
Completing this quest will give you 2,000,000 experience points and some stat bonuses. This quest will take the experienced player anywhere from 35 to 120 minutes to complete, depending on how long it takes you to get the necessary items to make the Dragon Key and how much resting your party needs to do (larger parties will not need to rest as much).
NOTE 1: Both good and neutral alignments must go to the Ancient Ruin to complete their 2nd alignment quest. The neutral questors must kill Beholder to get his eye, and good questors must kill Goru-Nezar (out past Beholder and Wraithlord on the other side of the ruins) and get his head to complete their quest. The two alignments may work together to help each other kill the required bosses!
NOTE 2: If there is a higher level player in the game that has an extra Eye of Beholder, you may get it from them and bypass the entire quest. Just get the eye in your inventory, go to Grey Lord, and ASK GREY MISSIONS and ASK GREY EYE and you will be done!
Once you have the above items, you may start your quest. Have all questors go to Grey Lord:
ASK GREY MISSIONS
Form your party, get your log rafts, and go to the Ancient Ruin Doors in the Northern Forests. As soon as you get to the Silvery Pool, you all may drop your rafts!
If you have a lock-picker in your party, you can skip this step and proceed directly to the line of this web page that talks about
getting the Dragon Key from the carving, giving it to the party leader, and using it to unlock the door.
Instead of doing all this, just have your lock-picker pick the lock on the door! If no lock-picker is available or he/she fails and fails and fails, then you will need to make a Dragon Key. To do this,
wander around and kill the different colored Dragon Serpents (red, blue, green, white, black) and collect one of each color fang. Only one person in the group needs to collect the fangs! Watch out for the Crimson Mist, it may appear anywhere in the ruins (24 hour regen, it just kind of "pops up" on you -- "A swirling red mist forms around you!" or something to that effect is what you will see) and is worth 300,000 experience! If you have trouble taking out the Crimson Mist, GET MORE PEOPLE TO FIGHT GORU-NEZAR! Goru is MUCH harder than the mist, and can hit for up to 300 damage in one round. Once you have all 5 colored fangs, return to the Ancient Ruin Doors and follow these directions:
2w, 3nw, go alley
You will be in a room with a dragon carving. Kill all the monsters in this room. The person with all 5 colored fangs must (IN THIS SPECIFIC ORDER):
INSERT WHITE FANG
INSERT BLACK FANG
INSERT GREEN FANG
INSERT BLUE FANG
INSERT RED FANG
When the last fang is inserted, the dragon carving will spit a Dragon Key into your inventory. Give this to the party leader. Have the party leader USE DRAGON KEY WEST to unlock the door to the west, and then open it and go west.
From this point, Unholy Idol will be to your north. You do NOT have to kill him, but he is fairly easy and worth a good bit of experience points! Keep in mind, he is completely IMMUNE TO FIRE. Make your way to Beholder, watching out for traps. You may bash or pick the door
that "requires" the Chrome Key. This area is kind of like a maze, but if you have MegaMUD or a good map, then you shouldn't have trouble finding Beholder! If you have MegaMUD, you may GOTO Beholder from the Unholy Idol's room. If you wish,
you may stop at the Ancient Ruin Ice Forge and fight the Frost Giant and Frost Hydra. They are SUSCEPTIBLE TO FIRE as well. To animate the Frost Giant, type TOUCH GIANT. To animate the Frost
Hydra, type MOVE ANVIL.
Find the Beholder and kill him. He will drop eye of the beholder. If you need help killing him, try to find some good questors looking to do their second alignment quest. After they help you kill Beholder, you can head to the other side of the ruins and help them kill Goru-Nezar to get their severed head of Goru-Nezar that they need to complete their quest!
At this point, head back to Grey Lord with the eye of the beholder. When you get to him:
ASK GREY EYE
Congratulations! You will get 2,000,000 experience (on top of all the experience you gained at Ancient Ruins) and some stat increases!
