Good Alignment, 4th Quest (Level 40)

To complete this quest, you will need the following:

You must be at least level 40. Multiple people may complete this quest at the same time! The quest is the same for ALL ALIGNMENTS, except the NPC you chat with to begin and end the quest will vary on your alignment. Chancellor Annora for good alignment, Grey Lord for neutral, and Balthazar for evil. Once each individual character has talked to their quest leader, you may all form together to kill the Dark Phoenix!
A party of at least eight or nine level 40s! A party of four level 60s would be able to kill Dark Phoenix if they get lucky, so make sure you have a big enough party to handle him! Priest-2 and Priest-3 characters and a warrior/paladin/cleric tank with nice armour class are great for this quest! Remember: FIRE SPELLS HEAL THE DARK PHOENIX!
Magma Amulet or Phoenix Feather. In versions previous to N, I was always told a Magma Amulet was required, a Phoenix Feather is not enough. This has apparently changed, and now a PF will do!
A rope and grapple.
A log raft.
1 Runic Coin (for passage to MOD 7).
All party members need a magic 4 weapon to hit Dark Phoenix.
A map of Silvermere, Darkwood Forest, Rocky Trail, and the entire western quadrant of the realm including the far west (MOD 7, Lagoon Reef, Jungle, Lost City, Barren Hills, Volcano, etc). If you have MegaMUD, you will not need a map!

Completing this quest will give you 30,000,000 experience points and a sweet cloak for your class! This quest will take the experienced player at least 90 minutes to complete, if not longer.

Once you have the above items, you may start your quest.

Have all questors of the GOOD alignment go to Chancellor Annora:

If you have sys goto commands, then sys to the Lost City and skip down to the Gaunt One Messenger.

Form your party, get your log rafts, head to and kill King Crab in Sandbar for the King Crab Claw. MOVE SAND once you have the claw to uncover a secret passage down. Go down and west to Seher'Sahham. ASK SEHER FEE. He will take 1 runic from you and levitate you up to the Lagoon Reef area.

Go to the battered chest in the Lagoon Reef area, and LIFT HATCH to get a golden idol. Everyone in your party will need to be wearing one around their neck to pass through Earthen Catacombs.

Head through the Jungle and Snake Pit to the Earthen Catacombs. Head through the Catacombs to the Lost City. Go kill the Gibbering Mage and Deranged Priest. In the Deranged Priest's room, type GO HATCH to get up to the roof. Each party member must separately GO HATCH. Go north twice and CLIMB BRANCH to get to the treetops. There are several things you must do here to open the passage to Barren Hills. After you do them, go to the opened secret passage and CLIMB VINE to pull yourself up to the Narrow Ledge.

Head through the Barren Hills to the Gaunt One Messenger:
GREET MESSENGER

Go to the Gaunt One Elder:
GREET ELDER
ASK ELDER AGREED

Go find the Aged Earth Dragon and kill him. Get the Severed Earth Dragon Claw. Return to the Gaunt One Elder:
ASK ELDER CLAW

It is not necessary to return the claw to the elder. He gives you the secret phrase "tharamon dur slamen" which opens a passageway when spoken in the proper room. Go to the Volcano. Now you need to kill Fire Knights until one drops a Red Rock Key. Kill the red demonling and get the Polished Key. Go kill Giant Efreetis until you get a feathered key.

Now go to the Dark Phoenix. Use the feathered key to open the door to his room. Kill him. You should get the experience for the quest as soon as he's dead, whether you were attacking him or not! So don't worry if your character breaks combat to heal or bless or what not, because as long as you are in the room and have done the proper prequesting, you will get the reward!
