Sunstone Wristband Quest (Level 20)
To complete this quest, you will need the following:
- You must be at least level 20.
- A party of at least eight level 20s, with lots of warrior type classes. Several level 50+ warriors, clerics, and/or paladins would be very beneficial for killing Dao Lord! Anyone who comes along will be able to complete the quest at the same time.
- Rope and grapple.
- About 15 platinum pieces.
- Pickaxe.
- Dwarven Ale.
- Waterskins for everyone that doesn't already have a sunstone wristband.
- Each questor must have a bare minimum of 40 intellect to be able to read the book during the quest.
- A map of the eastern half of the realm. If you have MegaMUD, you will not need a map!
Completing this quest will give you 2,000,000 experience points and the sunstone wristband. Prepare to spend anywhere from 2 to 6 hours on this quest, depending on your skill/experience with the realm and your luck with the Great Pyramid! If you have SYS GOTO commands, it will make part of this quest a lot faster.
Once you have the above items, you may start your quest. Form your party and head to Khazarad. You can buy the Dwarven Ale 1e, 1s of the Entry Arch. You can buy your waterskins, pickaxe, and rope and grapple from the general store in Khazarad!
Head to the Nekojin Elder in the Ornate Tent of the Dusty Village:
GREET ELDER
ASK ELDER PROBLEMS
ASK ELDER SARACENS
ASK ELDER AMULETS (NOTE: At this point, you will be charged 1 platinum and given a copper amulet)
ASK ELDER PYRAMIDS
ASK ELDER TRADERS
Make your way to the Saracen Hideout in the Scorching Desert. Kill Saracens. Collect one head on each player that hasn't already done this quest. The heads drop somewhat often, but be patient if you don't get them right away!
Once you have your Saracen Head, seek out the Small Pyramid. There will be a Guard Seargent at the entrance. In order to enter the pyramid, you must:
ASK SEARGENT HEAD
He will take the head and grant you access to the Small Pyramid. You only have to do this ONCE! After it is done, you will be able to enter and leave the pyramid freely forever.
Find the Trader inside the pyramid:
GREET TRADER
ASK TRADER SEERESS
ASK TRADER FAVOUR
He will give you a box and tell you to go deliver it to Meia in Silvermere. This is where SYS GOTOs come in handy! If you don't have them, walk all the way back to Silvermere, or ask your friendly Op for a retrain!
Once you get to Meia in Silvermere (3e, 1n from Town Square):
GREET MEIA
ASK MEIA BOX
She will give you a token that does not appear in your inventory. Now head all the way back to the Trader in the Small Pyramid! When you get there:
ASK TRADER RETURN
He will now grant you access to see the Seeress. Head north one space and you will be in her room:
GREET SEERESS
ASK SEERESS ACCEPT
She tells you to go to the library in the Palace and read a book. Head to the Bountiful Oasis north of the Dusty Village. Find the Shimmering Pool.
You will be travelling through the Shimmering Pool to a secret palace. If you stand in this pool too long, YOU WILL DIE! Gnomish Fish-Helms from the gnome inventor will prevent you from drowning if you need to recover death piles. You have plenty of time to get through the pool, even with heavy encumbrance, as long as you don't stop and smell the roses! Take one character at a time through, making sure they reach the other side before sending another one through.
To get through the Shimmering Pool, do the following. Remember, DON'T stand around and "pick your nose", or you will drown!
DIVE POOL
2d, 6n, 3u
You will now be on the other side of the Shimmering Pool. Bash the door to the north, and head north one space. Then head east and you will be in front of a closed door to the north, usually with a Rakshasha Sage standing in the room. Defeat the sage if he is there. Then TURN BOOK-STAND. This will open the door to the north. Head north. You will now be in the library.
Each questor must PERUSE BLUE BOOK. This book will read on the first attempt no matter what your intellect is. This next book, the red book, you will only be able to read if you have 40 intellect or higher. It may take several attempts to read it, especially if your character is stupid! If you fail reading the book, there will be about a 20 - 30 second pause where no commands will be able to be entered. Make sure you deactivate (turn all auto responses off) MegaMUD if you are using it!
Now, PERUSE RED BOOK. If you fail, keep trying until you successfully read it! As long as you are paying attention to the screen, there will be no doubt in your mind when it works, because you will receive two screens of text in a dark-aqua type color.
Once each questor has successfully read both books, bash the door to the south and leave south. Go west and you will be at the door you came through earlier. Head south, and you will be in the Palace Courtyard, at the Well. You will now go back through the well, and come out the Shimmering Pool on the other side! Once again, don't stand around or you will drown. Now:
DIVE WELL
2d, 6s, 3u
You will now be standing at the Bountiful Oasis, Shimmering Pool. Head back to the Seeress in the Small Pyramid:
ASK SEERESS RETURN
Now locate the Withered Old Man in the Small Pyramid:
GREET WITHERED
ASK WITHERED DWARVEN ALE
He will drink the ale and give you some information, including a secret word Gazmuldduhaz.
Now head to the Sandstone Quarry. When you get there, open up a map file. There are two down entrances in to the quarry. One will lead to a Mummified Miner in the northwest, and the other to the Hideous Abomination in the south. First, head to the Mummified Miner. When you get to him, EXAMINE MINER, and he will give you a red iron key. This key will open the door to the Hideous Abomination. Head back up out of the quarry, and down in to the other entrance. Go to the Hideous Abomination and kill it. In his room, each questor must now MINE ORE. This is where the pickaxe is required! If you will be making extra weapons for higher levels that have already done the quest and are tagging along to help you, you may continue to MINE ORE until you have as much as you want! Each piece will make a weapon.
Once each questor has at least one piece of Red Iron Ore, head to Master Smith Martok (NOT Martok's Battered Breastplate) in Khazarad:
ASK MARTOK RED IRON ORE
ASK MARTOK RED IRON WEAPON
He will take your piece of ore and about 10 platinum, and create your Red Iron weapon. Depending on your class, you will either get a Red Iron Axe, Red Iron Hammer, or Red Iron Dagger. You may make additional ones for any higher levels that are coming along to help you! Just make sure that, for example, you don't make an axe to give to a priest. The priest will require the hammer, since he/she only wields blunt weapons. On the same token, you can't give a hammer to a mage. Etc etc etc.
Now, head on over to the Great Pyramid. You will have to get through each level of the pyramid to get to Pharaoh Rastep! This is a rather difficult area. I will not go too in depth on it, but here are the basics:
GREAT PYRAMID, LEVEL 1
This area is timed! When you enter up in to the first level of the pyramid from the Scorched Caverns, you will have 2 minutes to get through it. You will have to go about 100 rooms to get through it, so you have to move your ass off! There are several blocks. Each block you push opens a door on the level. You have to figure out the pattern of block pushing to get you through each section of the level. If you can get a path file for MegaMUD and use it to run through the first level,
it's a really good idea! When you get to the end of the first level, there will be a Sphinx. You want to ASK SPHINX FIRE. An exit will open up. Go up, and you will now be on the second level!
GREAT PYRAMID, LEVEL 2
This entire area is pitch black. Poison traps constantly hit you from every direction. If you have a couple healers in your party, you should be fine! You want to find your way to the Sphinx on this level. With a good map, you will not have a problem! Once you get to the Sphinx, you will ASK SPHINX SUN. An exit will appear up. Go up. You will now be on the third level.
GREAT PYRAMID, LEVEL 3
This level is the toughest of the pyramid! On this level, each room will have four exits, n, s, e, and w. Each exit will be a door. Some doors are bashable, some doors open on timed intervals, and some don't even open at all! A good map is a MUST to get through this area!!!!! You want to make your way to the floating key and attack it. It will drop a key. Pick this key up quickly! When you get to the Sphinx on this level, ASK SPHINX STARS. An exit will open up. Go up. You will now be on the fourth level.
GREAT PYRAMID, LEVEL 4
On this level, the object is to spell out the word FOURTEEN by walking across floor tiles. The outer perimeter of spaces is safe to walk over, it is the inside tiles that contain the letters. If you make a mistake on these inside tiles, you will fall all the way down in to the scorched caverns and have to do the entire pyramid all over again!!! So, do NOT screw up! The directions are as follows:
2w, 4n, 2e, 1s, 1w, 2s, 1e, 1s, 2e, 3n, 1w, 1s
NOTE: When walking this path, take the time to stop and fight each monster in each room. Some monsters cast hold spells. If someone in your party gets held up and you go back for them you will fall and have to start the pyramid all over again! So the easiest way to just get through this level without a hassle is to walk one room at a time and fight as you go!
Once you complete the above directions, you will be at an UP exit. Head up to the fifth level of the pyramid.
GREAT PYRAMID, LEVEL 5
This level is fairly straight-forward. Walk a few rooms and you will be through it. The directions are:
1n, 2w, 1s, 1e
or
1s, 2w, 1n, 1e
Once you do this, you will be at another Sphinx. ASK SPHINX TIME to open the exit up.
GREAT PYRAMID, LEVEL 6, BOSS FIGHT
When you go up from the fifth level, you will be at Pharaoh Rastep. The red iron weapons are REQUIRED to hit him! You must have them wielded at this point! In earlier versions, mystics were able to hit both him and Dao Lord with Jumpkick when they had a red iron weapon equipped. I don't know if this has changed or not!
Once Pharaoh Rastep is dead, a portal will appear. Hurry and rest as fast as you can (the portal will eventually disappear). Now everyone must type GO PORTAL to get in to Dao Lord's room. Each person in the party must type this, and your party will not remain formed when you go through! Red iron weapons are also required to hit Dao. He is EXTREMELY tough! Even if you killed Rastep and thought "Wow, that was easy!"... Be prepared to get a little messed up fighting Dao!
NOTE: If you die fighting Dao, death piles will be scattered at dead end areas around the outside of the great pyramid, in the scorching desert. A good map will have these rooms marked!
Once Dao is dead, all questors will automatically be awared 2,000,000 exp. Now head to Orpheo in the Misty Valley and ASK ORPHEO DAO.
Congratualtions! You now have 2,000,000 more experience, and the sunstone wristband!
