Phoenix Feather Quest (Level 15)



To complete this quest, you will need the following:

Completing this quest will give you 750,000 experience points and the phoenix feather, and will take an experienced player about 180 minutes to complete once you have the proper items!


NOTE: If you screw up, all the bosses you kill during this quest have a 3 hour regen.

Once you have the above items, you may start your quest. Form your party and head to Rhudaur, Town Center.

Once you are in Rhudaur, locate the Warped Asylum. When you go west to enter this area, the rooms will shift on you as often as every 4 seconds! Sometimes the rooms will change even while you are just standing in them! There will be four padded cells. One to the east with exit west to get out. One to the north with exit south to get out. One to the west with exit east to get out. And one to the south with exit north to get out. You want to find the Padded Cell to the south, with the exit north to get out. Once you are in this cell, there may or may not be an old man with you. Disengage auto responses on MegaMUD if you are running it, to make sure it doesn't attack the old man! If the old man is not in the room, continually walk north, south, north, south, north, south, etc etc etc over and over until he appears! Do not get frustrated, sometimes it can take a long time to find the cell, and then a while to get the old man to appear! Once the old man appears, talk to him and ask him everything that is highlighted. There was a bug in the older versions of MajorMUD where you had to ASK OLD MAN PROPHECY even though it wasn't a highlighted word! I believe this bug is fixed now, but I still always ask him that just to make sure! You should, too!

Once you have talked to him, exit the game and come back in. You will now be outside of the Warped Asylum. Make your way to the Rhudaur Thieve's Guild, and purchase a Skeleton Key (a couple of platinum).

Locate the Dread Mystic. You can do this manually by finding the Rhudaur Dump, and typing GO MANHOLE. This will put you in the sewers. Work your way to the Dread Mystic, and kill him. A Yellowed Note will appear in the inventory of all questors who have talked to the old man in the asylum.

Locate the Flesh Golem, and kill him. He will drop a Wire Key. Pick this key up and use it to unlock the door to the north. Open the door, and enter the room. You will now be standing in the Library. Type READ PARCHMENT. Head back to Town Square in Silvermere.

Once you are back in Silvermere, located the Smuggler Boss. He is hidden in a secret passage slightly west of and underneath the Silvermere Docks. Search down until you find it! Go down in here, watch for traps, find the Smuggler Boss, and kill him. A Smudged Paper will appear in the inventory of all questors.

Head to Orfeo Talespinner in the Misty Valley:
ASK ORFEO MORUKAI

Now head to Elder Grove and locate the Ancient Darkwood Tree, Portal. When you get there, GO PORTAL and you will be in the Caves of Chaos. Every one who types GO PORTAL will wind up in a different, random room of the Caves of Chaos! This is a small area that loops back over on itself in all directions! Find the UP exit, and go up. From here, you want to:
Circle around to the top of the staircase. Go clockwise 4 times, then e, w, e, w, e.
Go south through an exit that is not there.
TURN STATUE
Go n, w, then counter-clockwise until you see a new exit to the south.
Go 9u, n, ASK GUARD ORFEO, w through newly opened door.

You will now be at Morukai:

ASK MORUKAI COMPONENTS

At the end, you will ASK MORUKAI COMPONENTS and he will say you don't have the proper components. Here are the four components you need and where to get them. You may get them in any order, but here is the most logical to save you from running all over the realm wasting time:
  1. Unfertilized Eggs: Kill the Queen Ant below the Tilled Fields in the Gnome Village. The eggs will appear in the inventory of all questors standing in the room when she dies.
  2. Double-Terminated Quartz: Kill Leo the Quick in the Bandit Keep east of Aldreth. The quartz will appear in the inventory of all questors standing in the room when he dies. To get inside Bandit Keep, go to the main entrance in Darkwood Forest. Search north until you find an exit. Head north until you can go east. Head east room by room typing CLIMB TREE until you find the room that lets you climb up the tree into the second floor of the keep! You need a map for this area, it is very confusing!
  3. Acid Gland: Kill the White Jelly below the Mad Wizard in the Silvermere Sewers. The glands will appear in the inventory of all questors standing in the room when it dies.
  4. Cave Roots: Head to the Jagged Hills on the northern side of Dragontooth Hills. Locate the Black Orc Cave. Find the Black Orc Boss to the north. Kill him, and continue following the passage to the north until you come to a dead end. Type PULL ROOTS to receive the roots! Each questor must PULL ROOTS individually!

After you have all four components, return to the Ancient Darkwood Tree, Portal in Elder Grove (where you went through the portal to the Caves of Chaos). Since you have already gone through the caves, this time you will automatically go to Morukai's area when you type GO PORTAL. So go to the tree again:

When you ask Morukai return, he should give you a magical quartz rod. Sometimes though, the game will make you wait. In this case, we will go on to the next part of the quest and come back to Morukai later. If he gave you the Magical Quartz Rod, then you do not need to come back to him again until after you have slain the Necromancer!

Head to the Gnome Alchemist in the Gnome Village:
ASK ALCHEMIST POTION

You will receive a potion of levitation. This costs 1 platinum piece. All questors need one of their own!

Head to the Gnome Inventor in the Gnome Village:
ASK INVENTOR FORKS

You should now have a titanium fork in your inventory. I know that only the party leader needs the titanium fork, however I am not sure if all questors need to ask him about forks in order to proceed to the next step of the quest. I always have all questors ask him about forks, just to make sure. Then I have everybody but the party leader drop the forks. The titanium fork is a FREE item!

At this point, if Morukai told you to come back later instead of giving you the Magical Quartz Rod, you need to go back to him and once again:
ASK MORUKAI RETURN

He should give you the magical quartz rod this time, if he didn't last time.

Now head back to Silvermere and grab a flotation device. The party leader needs the magical quartz rod and the titanium fork in his/her inventory, and all questors need the Potion of Levitation.

Head to the Mossy Cave Entrace on the east side of the Silver River. At this point, all characters must USE LEVITATION to take the potion of levitation. Everyone who uses this potion will float up to the top of the waterfall!

Go to the room with rubble:
MOVE RUBBLE

You will need to AIM FORK to destroy walls here in order to locate the Haunting Spirit. When you find the Haunting Spirit, type TOUCH ROD BARRIER to use the magical quartz rod to open up a passage.

Find the Necromancer beyond the Shimmering Barrier and kill him for the Golden Egg.

Once you have the Golden Egg, return to Morukai once more:
ASK MORUKAI INFORMATION

He will give you the Basalt Key. Only the party leader needs this key, but all questors need to ask him about information!

Go to the Lava Fields and locate the closed door to the north. Use the Basalt Key to unlock this door, and open it. Head north. You will now be at the Lake of Fire:

Congratualtions! You now have 750,000 more experience, and the phoenix feather!
