Joshua Trees in the Mojave Desert

*ABOUT ME?*

Aw, well, there's not much to say about me. I don't have the requisite pet picture to attach. Hesperia, California, is where I call home, the high desert area of the vast Mojave Desert, southern part of the state, where we get the coldest of cold (it even freezes at times) and the hottest of hot, (118° is not unusual) depending on El Niņo, La Niņa or Los Ninnies. . . :) Yes, that really is my back yard on the previous page. I took the picture from my "home office with a view" after one of our rare snowfalls. You can't tell by looking, how miserably cold it was that day. Brrrrr!

I am office manager/legal secretary in an extremely busy law firm, and when not at the office, much of my time is spent playing and/or working with my computer. Check out Quotes & Quips, a fun article that I write for a couple of area newspapers. I am able to work from home quite a bit and generally go into the office only two or three full days each week, which is just fine with me. After working full time for so many years, it's nice to be able to set my own hours, even though often those hours consist of weekends and late nights. But it also gives me more time outside, tending to my flowers and veggies.

Hobbies? Let's see . . . netsurfing, netshopping, mIRC chatting, (nickname katj) ICQing, (number 3421304) recently some stock market trading, (thanks to E-Trade) all water sports, especially boating and snorkeling, and gardening, which involves tending to some 50-60 rose bushes, dozens of varieties of fruit, palm and ornamental trees, hundreds of varieties of flowers, but . . . the very best part of gardening is planting, fertilizing, picking, harvesting, dehydrating, drying, and eating chiles! The hottest, sweetest and tastiest chile peppers that the powers of El Grande can produce. Habaneros, Jalapeņos, Anaheims, Tabascos, Serranos, Cayennes, Hungarians, Fresnos, and others, all have a dear spot of their own. Playing with chiles is truly my favorite pastime.

A great mailing list I belong to is theChile-Headers, where we share information about our favorite hotstuff. These people know the answers to just about anything and everything concerning chiles. And quick! Post a question to this list and the answer generally appears within an hour. Lots of answers. Lots of different answers along with their own experiences. Which brings on even more answers . . . . It's a never ending circle and extremely enjoyable.

As for chatting in mIRC, I've met some truly great friends in Cyberspace, some of whom I've met and some whom I hope to meet. These are fantastic friends, what did I do before I found them?? Drop by #Chatwild on the Undernet some evening and meet us. Several of their pictures are found at my Photo Gallery page, more pictures are added regularly. Also take a peek at some of my own photos, vacations, and more.

Favorite hang-out is the Colorado River at Lake Havasu City, Arizona. Home of the London Bridge, yes, THE London Bridge (well, one of them.) But talk about hot! Try 128° at the end of June. :) That's just about perfect. Ok, ok, that's a tad warm even for me. But I'm one who puts on the jacket when the temperature falls below 70°. I like warm. No snow, thank you. And rain, rain . . . please stay away.

Born in Iowa Falls, Iowa and moved to Yuma, Arizona in time for junior high school. Graduated from Kofa High School and attended Arizona State College at Flagstaff, where it snows. Fun years.

Thanks for visiting.
