“Waste” -- This is the kind of story I sometimes write for mystery and dark-fantasy magazines. They’re a break from my usual communications, and great fun for me to explore as a writer. This story is representative of its genre, which is a polite way of saying, it is not for everyone. Know before you begin, my goal was to generate empathy combined with fear. I chose a subject/problem we all ignore, hoping it will go away on it’s own. It won’t.
