Day Three

Pictures from day three, September 24th, and the 14 mile hike to Clouds Rest and back.

the way up. It's that hump in the distance.

Below is a shot looking back down the Cloud's Rest access trail to the junction with the main trail. The junction is just where you can see two other hikers. If you look closely, you may be able to pick out Anne just to the right of the green bushes just above the other hikers. (Nice shot of my finger at the top of the picture.)

Below is a shot of Anne beside a stack of bouders just beyond that junction of the main trail and the CR trail. I think the lake in the distance is where we started from - Tenaya Lake on the Tioga road.

This is a view of the summit of Cloud's Rest. To the right is Half Dome in the distance. Not sure the resolution is good enough to show that there are two hikers just over the summit - very small, one just over the highest point and the other to his left.

Below is a shot from Cloud's Rest of Half Dome and Yosemite Valley. You can tell that this picture of Half Dome is from the opposite side of the valley from the Glacier Point side - the missing half of the dome is on the right here, on the left from GP. Accrose the valley (just to the right and up from half dome) is a white spot which is Sentinel Dome which we hiked on the first day. And just below that is another white spot which is Glacier Point (I think).

Below is a picture of a little ground squirrel of some sort that tried to share our lunch. Very aggressive about it too. These little animals, as well as another version with a longer, bushier tail were all over the place.
