HETZLER CEMETERY

HETZLER CEMETERY

Wheatland, New York

This cemetery was located at the corner of North Road

and Chili-Scottsville Road in the Town of Wheatland.

Accounts say that there were from four to twelve burials in

this cemetery but only the two tombstones below remained in

the mid 1930's. It is said that Polly Hetchler (or Hetzler,

as the family now spells the name) was the sister of

Revolutionary War General John Sullivan but that has not

been proven. The cemetery was moved in 1956 to make room

for a school.
