THE BON VIVANTS Black Honey (Gulcher Records) CD $11 Debut full-length by the fabulous Bon Vivants from Atlanta, Gee-Ay. Post-punk 'n folk-rock (NOT "freak folk"--eeek!), power-pop 'n acid-rock, howlin' at the Georgia moon like a lonely 16-year-old geek even as you stare at so-called middle-age in defiance. Big Stars Soft Boys Television Personalities 'n Mr. Barrett hisself--post-Cale VU and the ghost of Arthur Lee--kids still 70s-drunk and runnin' free! And a cover of the Mothers' "I'm Not Satisfied"!  SNAP! MANGLE! POP!

THE SCREAMIN' MEE-MEES Plastic Hong Kong Door Bell Finger  (Gulcher Records) CD $11 The Screamin' Mee-Mees are back! This is Jon Ashline and Bruce Cole's first proper release in eleven years (after a slew of archival digs more recently). And the duo returns to its basic mid-70s form: two adult children bashing away, making up songs as they go along. Plus a jam of double-guitar sub-Beefheartian twistery, and two tracks with Bruce twiddlin' his audio generator in a fidgety Krautrock-like manner.

HOME BLITZ (Gulcher Records) CD $11 Home Blitz is 21-year-old Daniel DiMaggio from  Princeton, New Jersey. The basic HB sound is an odd mix of powerpop, punkrock, and noise (etc.). Think: early Modern Lovers, Big Star, and Flamin' Groovies circa '72 + Half Japanese, Harry Pussy, and freejazz . . . huh?! Does that make sense? Oh yeah! This disc collects the first two HB singles (way out of print), material from a cassette release, a new HB 12" EP, and two otherwise unavailable tracks.

CRAWLSPACE The Spirit of '76 (Gulcher Records) CD $11 Take me back. Yeah, take me back. Take me back to where I once beee-longed. (Elvis version of the Fab 4.) Git back juju. After 15+ years in the outer regions, Crawlspace has touched down on solid rock again! With the pick-to-click "Take Your War On Vacation" & lots of yer fave tunes by O. Rex, the Raiders, Love, Patti Smith, Patrick Sky, the BIrds, Deep Purple, Allan Sherman, the C*nts, the Saints, & the Stones!!!

CRAWLSPACE Crawlspace Rears Its Lovely Head, Motherfuckers! (Cauliflower Dreams; Belgium) CDR $9 The "last" Crawlspace "noise" release? Two long tracks recorded and/or mixed during our last spurt of improvised racket & abstract experimentation: one of our most controlled free pieces (synths, loops, etc. moving randomly but mixed with care) + one that's a storm of guitars, drums, & other crap layered into an ugly mess that even we couldn't totally sort out afterwards. Limited edition of 100 copies.

THE SCREAMIN' MEE-MEES & HOT SCOTT FISCHER Warp Sessions 1972/1973 (Gulcher Records) 2CD $18 Years before they released their first EP in 1977, the Screamin' Mee-Mees hooked up with rock-writer Scott Fischer. Inspired by the Godz, Amon Duul I, and similar weirdness, they recorded two batches of chaotic noise, space-age freak-out, cracked humor, and dark proto-punk. This was all released on two limited-edition Slippy Town CDRs. Now it's available again, with notes by Fischer and Mee-Mee Bruce Cole, plus a previously unreleased track by Scott and Bruce.
