Misunderstood and Unregulated Anger, Anxiety, and Fear

  • impair encoding of information, (You cannot learn what is being requested/taught/shared and may not even be aware that anything is being said.  Classical example is when  an important friend turns on you, the stock market just crashed 15%, your boss/teacher/parent is out of control. That is a “0” learning/sharing moment at work/school/home and lasts until recovery takes place.

                                 Basic Program

  • impair recall, (Even if you encoded the information [learned it] well, you cannot recall the information.  Classical example is when taking exams, negotiating with an important client or a family member when particularly anxious.  When undeer the influence of anger, one can have a high level of focused recall on the subject at hand, but cannot take in information from the other, nor have even awareness of other alternatives.)

                                Why it works

  • impair performance-competence, (A classical example is in public speaking. Likewise, when under the influence  of unregulated anger, anxiety or fear, you cannot teach or manage well nor advance the family's interests.)

                                                  Medical Professionals

  • channel the range of thoughts into a rigid and narrow band, (Cannot see options or other’s opinion.  This is classical in unregualted anger driven discussions and unregulated anxiety driven problem solving efforts.)

                                                       Immediate Benefits

  • lessen appropriate responses to social cues, (Sometimes it can cause one to misread all social cues.)

                                                                    Health Benefits

  • stop or block any effort to learn.  (This is classical of hopeless, give up thinking, which tends to depress the necessaary energy to learn attentively. It is also classical of both appropriate anger and reactive anger. While the later focuses energy to hurt back and hence cannot learn anything, the peerson who is approprately anger will be seeking justice, and, even if they do call a time out, it takes massive emotional maturity (that few adults can even achieve) to enter into a state of learning.
  • A prevalent and sad cause of all three is when a frustrated teacher, (manager, parent) employs demeaning, shaming, cynical remarks, etc. as a compliance technique.  If the student belives the remarks to be true, they become depressed; if a student rejects the demeaning comment, they will become angry (which they should) but they genrally also lose control and become reactively anger. However, either in a state of rightfdul anger  on in a state of reactive anger, a student cannot learn anything.)
