Ozette Survivors Sept
2009
What?? OH,
Nooooooo “The Ozette hiking trip is
Cancelled????
Not for us, we’re
going anyhow!!!!!!
We had the cabin reserved and off we went on our road trip
to the far north of Washington, Raunie,
Carol and Joanne. After many stops to
taste wine, shop and eat we made it up to the Lost Resort.
The hike began at 9:30AM and we had
hopes
that some more
Skihawkers would show up but no, we were on our own.
So off we went on our trek thru the woods on
boardwalks to Sand Point (3.0 miles), on the beach over slippery rocks
and
under trees (3.1 miles) and back thru the woods again from Cape Alva
(3.4 miles) for a total of 9.5 miles. It
was a beautiful clear day and we met all kinds of interesting hikers
and
backpackers along the way.
This hike is well worth the long drive to get there.
It is very important to know the low tide
times as there are 2 headlands that you have to go around or over
depending on
what time you are there.
