The Skihawks Do Vail

What can we say – Even if the snow was not the premier quality we might have expected, the Skihawks who joined Sandee & Mike Miner in Vail had six great days of skiing! We started with a spring skiing stint with 3 days of bright sunshine and folks trying to find a place to put all that extra clothing. Things cooled down a bit with a few winds later in the week, and despite some skied out runs, Mike Miner scouted the mountain for the runs that had the good stuff.  More

Reno 2009
Doing the 22nd annual Reno ski trip was as good as ever with all participants commenting in a positive manner.   Horizon Airlines started us off on a good note when they served us complementary beer and wine on the trip South.  They got us off a bit late but an early arrival made up for that. Snowshoe 2009

The phone calls were flying back and forth: Are the roads open? How much snow is left at the mountain?  Is it raining now? Should we cancel?  After being housebound with all the snow in December and the cold, cold January weather and all those inches of melting rain with slides everywhere, would there be anyplace to snowshoe at all?  Our trip leader, Mary Lloyd, had purchased the groceries and all the arrangements had been made.  “Let’s go” she yelled, “we can always play games, drink wine, and hot tub if we can’t snowshoe!"  More

New Years on Mt. Hood
It snowed, it rained and the wind blew - the major ski area, Mt Hood Meadows, closed all but one lift and stated it was the worse storm in five years - but all of this did not keep the Ski Hawks from a wonderful - eventful time - NO - it gave them an excuse to use their creative minds and come up with a list of even more things to do for three days  More

Christmas Dinner/Dance 2008
In the great tradition of the Skihawks Christmas Celebrations, our December 6th party was one more grand affair in our history of outstanding social events.  More

Big Mountain 2008
Whitefish Ski Resort
Big Mountain Montana

Five days of skiing in the Rockies on a trip by train that starts on St. Patrick’s Day and ends on Easter has too much potential to ignore.  Or so sixteen SkiHawks decided.  More

Silver Mountain/Schweitzer

Naturally, the Idaho ski trip to Silver Mountain and Schweitzer Basin was all that
