Chateau Ste Michell
1981

$9.00

Eric's Rating:
7.00 grapes.

This rating had to factor in the deteriation of the wine due to age.
It must have been something in its day.

A tired old nag proudly trotting home.

On the label:
"The vineyards of Washington are at the same latitude as the great wine producing regions of France."

This is a 1981 Cabernet on it's last legs so to speak, but not going down without a fight. Unmistakable tastes of vinegar and bitterness don't rain out the picnic - but the storm clouds are on the horizon.

An aroma hinting of old forests and mossy ponds. This wine still retains a smoothness and complexity. Very pleasurable and distinct taste changes. The label talks of a "distinctive woody, herbal character." I know most people don't eat and taste wood but somehow the sensation is there. Watch out for that vinegar though - ouch!
