A Washington State wine.

On the label.
"Extended aging in small oak barrels develops complexity and a remarkable smoothness."

Maybe they needed smaller barrels because this wine is none too smooth or complex. It is actually somewhat like the people of Washington - bitter, a little snippy to outsiders, but not without homespun quality.

(No disrespect to my Washington-based Lockheed brothers who are cordial no matter where they pitch their tent).

Once beyond the dysfunctional introduction, one finds a wine with a smooth center, good flavor, and a half-hearted tannic afterglow.

An acceptable wine born from the waterlogged, evergreen soil of Washington state.
