Bear Ridge Vinyard
$6.00
Eric's Rating:
5.83 grapes.
I lowered the rating
on this wine because of the false advertising of the label. |
Brash and tart with a full fruity immediacy.
On the label:
"The Spanish explorers
named our Santa Cruz mountains "Sierra Azul" or "Blue
Mountains." Grizzly bears were numerous, prowling about
in herds, like hogs on a farm."
The label goes on and on about the
Santa Cruz mountains. How beautifull the valleys, how good the
wine. Wonderfull. Only problem is, when you read the fine print,
you discover the wine is a product of Chile. I guess one can
pretend the wine is produced in the Santa Cruz mountains. The
label certainly tries to give that impression.
Before I read the tiny print about Chile,
I was picturing giant Grizzlies prowling about blueberry patches.
It does have a pleasing hillbilly taste and an innocent recklessness
- like an Elvis Presley movie where Elvis outsmarts the Guvment
men. |
