FAMILY
Family
is the backbone to my existence, the supportive nest I'm proud to say
that I'm close to. Most of my family lives in Miami, having moved there
just a few years ago, but I try to keep in touch with my parents and
two sisters as much as I can. My family - as difficult as it is for
them to understand - supports me pretty unconditionally in my creative
pursuits. They still want me to move out to Miami, but despite how beautiful
the girls are out there, I need to be here. |

My
mom and dad were married on September 14th, 1954, in Concepcion
del Uruguay, Argentina. They knew each other when they were just
kids, and aside from those odds (marrying someone you've known
for that long), among many of my friends growing up, a marriage
that actually lasted and didn't end up in divorce was an oddity.
They just didn't get my family.
In 1964, my Dad left Argentina and came to the states to start
a life here for the family. He started working at Bob's Big Boy
in Toluca Lake as a dishwasher, and after switching jobs, he earned
enough money to send for my mother and two sisters. |

Both
of my sisters are overachievers. They always have been. After
coming to this country in 1965 (on Pan Am), they got involved
in a lot of the stuff my family needed, and they became the
communicators for the family. They made the phone calls and
other important things with running the family, which is why
all of us really on each other so much now. Maria, the older
sister (and I'm not saying how old), went into the Army right
after high school. Monica went to college. Maria came back,
and is now happily married to Dana Drew. She is now one of the
most recognizable names in the HR industry. Monica became a
lawyer and on August 10th, 1995, she adopted Rosa, at that time
a 10 year old girl. (see below)
How in the world do I catch up to all that? |
