Procedure:
Mr. Barry specializes in painting portraits from photographs and, because he has painted extensively from life, he has developed a creative process that assures each portrait painted from photographs to be as fresh and direct as if it were painted from life. If the client is within a reasonable driving distance, Mr. Barry would prefer to take his own photographs; otherwise, personal photographs can be used. As not all photographs are appropriate reference material, the client is asked to forward a selection either by mail or e-mail for the artist’s review.
If the photographs are useable and the client wishes to commission a portrait, an agreement is prepared that specifies the number of subjects, size, price, and other details the client and Mr. Barry agree upon. If the client is located outside the Dallas-Fort Worth area, these items are discussed in a telephone consultation and/or by e-mail. Upon signing the agreement, a deposit of fifty percent of the total price is required.
Next, decisions will be made regarding clothing, setting, and other relevant details. Decisions are also made with regard to general colors to be used, composition and mood to ensure the painting becomes an integral part of the room where it will hang. Two photographs of the painting are sent to the client: one at the block-in stage and another when the painting is completed. Delivery arrangements are made individually with each client and, upon final approval, the remaining fifty percent is due. Satisfaction is guaranteed.
Fees:
Fees
begin at $1250 for a single person (head and shoulders) and increase according
to size, background treatments, number of people painted, and requested details.
Mr. Barry will paint any number of people within a chosen or plain background.
