The Art of Touch Mission Statement
To maintain a safe environment that is conducive to and encourages, inspires and motivates growth through healing on all levels.

Hi Everyone,

What an amazing past few months!! The time continues to fly-by as I struggle to keep up with all the things I want to-do and be when I grow up. I hope this newest edition to my newsletter finds you all well & abundantly blessed, as we all move into this colorful season of fall.

For those of you who come to my Butler location, you have witnessed first-hand the changes that are occurring. Jill & Terri have been here for several months now, and we are adjusting to change. Most importantly, for me, the communication between all of us has made this transition easier.

Some of the changes that are occurring are the name of the center our businesses run out of. Although, we all have our own autonomy in our individual practices, collectively we have formed a partnership. The name of our center is: The Center for Integrative Healing. So if you happen to be going down Rt. 23 and see a lit up sign on the North-bound lane that's us!!

Note: This does not mean I am changing my name The Art of Touch. This name change applies to our partnership only.

Other changes are the face-lift of my therapeutic room, and the reception area. For those of you who come to me for your sessions, you have seen a “BIG TRANSFORMATION”. The walls have been meshed painted to bring in the appearance of “nature”. The tapestry on the ceiling with its sky-blue hue, the half-moon wrapped around the sun, & the cluster of stars set the mood. The lighting of white Christmas lights surrounding the tapestry gives off many diverse abilities in the lighting that the client chooses for their session.

I have become increasingly interested in the messages nature gives us. I often turn to Animal Speak and Nature Speak by Ted Andrews who, spent most of his childhood, surrounded by nature. His diverse experiences led to his self-discovery in the connection between our encounters with animals, birds, insects and the natural world.

In my own experiences, I have grown to recognize the “spiritual relationship” & “message” the natural world has to offer. In my space, I have brought in specific animals to re-enforce my Mission Statement to my practice: encouraging, inspiring and motivating growth through healing on all levels.

What you will find:

Bears - Awakening the power of the Unconscious; bears have a great fondness for honey and can be found in trees: symbolic of going within to awaken the power, but only by bringing it out into the open and applying it will the honey of life be tasted.

Deer - Gentleness & innocence- gentle luring to new adventure

Wolf - Guardianship, ritual, loyalty, & spirit

Frog - Transformation through water & sound (on a keynote: you will also be surrounded by the sounds of frogs croaking – as they learn to use their voice to stir the emotions and to call for change of the climatic conditions of their own lives)

Dragonflies - The power of light (lighting the path)

Hummingbird - The nectar of life

Among the array of creatures, you will find “real” tree stumps (thanks to my friend & client Jan Joritsma who owns Ideal Farm & Garden Center up in beautiful Sussex County: a must to check out, if you are out for a Sunday drive and heading North); fairies & angels; and a Native American section with drums & incense burning. As always, my clients have been my greatest inspiration in the changes that occur in my practice.

More Wonderful News!
I am excited to announce our newest member to our Butler location. Pam Scarfone has been in the medical profession for 19 years as an occupational therapist. Her journey has taken her along a unique path. Her non-traditional practice is supported through “Intuitive Counseling”, “Energy Rebalancing”, and “Mediumship. Keeping in alignment to our office practice and standards, Pam works in a safe, supportive and non-judgmental environment that inspires spiritual growth and expansion of awareness of the mind-body-spirit connection.

Her expertise has given her a full spectrum of opportunities to work with clients of all ages. She continues to treat clients with depression, anxiety, panic disorders, chronic illness, post traumatic stress, bereavement issues, relationship difficulties, work related stress, career changes and children with ADD and emotional relational difficulties. On a personal note, I have experienced Pam's work, and have discovered patterns that I was immersed in. I now have an increased awareness that has given me an option to continue to re-enact, or change the pattern. I choose to change.

Pam's work has inspired me to look beyond what is, what is yet to be, as our abilities to change life patterns gives light to a new day. To schedule an appointment, Pam can be reached at 973-271-7882

Diversity
The dictionary meaning of diversity is to be different. British naturalist, Charles Darwin, spent his childhood surrounded by nature. As he continued to evolve, he found nature to be his tool to research the evolution of natural occurrences, and given variance the different species could & would adapt. Those that did not would become distinct shrivel up and die.

There are immense differences between the humans on our planet. This makes each one of us unique and special. We do not always see this in each other. Some of us see only what we have not accomplished, while others may see themselves as way superior to their neighbor. The differences do not stop there. We have the opposites of the sexes: male/female; sexual preference: heterosexual/homosexual; cultural differences: social preferences/values & ethics.

And then there's the Chinese symbol of Yin/Yang sometimes referred to as the symbol of Tai Chi, which came from I-Ching the universal phenomenon of nature.

Although, there were many controversial issues with Darwin's findings to evolution and man, his passion to nature's influences continues to evolve today. We live in a world of vast change that continues to challenge each of us in a variety of ways. Technology has certainly been one of my greatest challenges. Modern conveniences have created more “I've got to have” needs that add to financial stress, and less time spent enjoying the harvest we work hard for.

Our fast pace world is quick becoming more unbalanced, and like Darwin, we see the mental, emotional, spiritual & physical stress it plays out in our lives. Global warming has gotten our attention with the turbulence of violence that has been experienced in our weather, and aggressive behavior has touched all of our lives.

Within all this variance, in times of disarray, we have all experienced our connectiveness. During 9/11 the world stopped. It was a time to stop and raise our flags from all over the world. Throughout time, diversity has played a huge role in our lives. When we stop, we have a chance to slow down and appreciate our differences, and to also, recognize our oneness.

Namaste'
