2006 Texas 4-H State food Show Guidlines For those of you that are interested in pursuing method demonstration, illustrated talks, etc. at Round-Up Activities.
Beginning with the 2005-2006 Texas 4-H Year the 4-H Program is re-introducing the Method Demonstrations and Illustrated Talk
contests as Educational Presentations. This concept was suggested through the listening groups held across the state in 2003
and by recommendations of the Texas 4-H Roundup Advisory Committee. Basically, an Educational Presentation is the expansion
of a Method Demonstration and Illustrated Talk to include the option of presenting a public speech on that particular project/contest
topic or choose to continue presenting a method demonstration or illustrated talk. This opportunity will focus on several
of the important and primary concepts of our presentation contests which are public speaking, the organization process, and
delivery of a presentation. The Public Speaking contest at Roundup will still remain a separate contest in which youth addressing issues not matching
to a project contest area will continue to enter. Also, Educational Presentations can be longer in time than the Public Speaking
Contest and can include up to 5 4-H members, whereas Public Speaking is an individual entry. Other things to remember about the Educational Presentations are: *Teams can consist of 1 to 5 4-H members. *The validity
of the resources are very important - please assist 4-H members in making sure that true and valid resources are used in the
development of the presentations. *A new score sheet will be used with the presentations. Please make sure that all 4-H members
are aware of the new judging requirements and formats. *All of these documents are located on the publication page of the
Texas 4-H and Youth Development website. ( The attached public speaking score sheet is the same as in the past, but with an updated appearance. Thank you. Toby L.
