Below are the tables of contents of each of the eight photographic chapters. There are about
250 different plants used in the 293 photographs. These photographs were culled from Virginia
Crowl’s collection taken in such far-flung areas as Burma, New Zealand, and Iceland, as
well as her long-time home of Ohio and other areas of the United States and Canada. Many
were taken specifically for The Botanical Language.
