Tallitot

Inquire about an individually designed tallit!

Each tallit is custom designed by the client and myself. For example, for B'nai Mitzvot I have designed tallitot that reflect their Torah portion. The tallitot you see pictured are examples of this. The mountain tallit, a gift from the boy's grandmother, will always serve as a visual reminder of the significance of this special day. Color preferences, size, and type of silk fabric can also be individually determined. After discussing an initial concept for the tallit, I make a colored pencil design which I show the client for approval before beginning painting on the silk. I can also show sample colors on silk. I can work long-distance with customers by email and phone during the design process. Standard attarahs can be ordered or individually painted with a Hebrew phrase of choice. After the tallit is completed, I sew the hems and tie the tzitzit according to ritual specifications.

I can also paint and construct matching tallit bags. The tallit and bag with the scene of Jerusalem were designed for an Israeli who wanted to have scenes of her homeland close to her while praying. This tallit was painted on a standard scarf size 18" by 72" of silk crepe, fitting for a small woman or a Bat Mitzvah. Full size tallitot are usually 45" by 72" and can be painted on heavy silk broadcloth, or silk charmuse, a shinier fabric. Below is a tallit and detail painted on charmeuse.
