Big changes are afoot at Silent Menagerie!
On repeated advice I went to see Vocational Rehabilitation, and that agency has leaped upon the idea of turning this business from a producer of exclusively original pieces to a producer of small-edition cold-cast resin pieces. I will still be specializing in horses and equine portraiture, and customs will always still be available--but soon I will be reproducing my best pieces in limited numbers, with emphasis on the model horse customizing market. My goal is to work in the same scale as Breyer Stablemate (tm) size pieces, and I'm getting pretty close with my practice runs.
I will also be producing a fairly unique specialty item: tokens for the collectible card game Magic: the Gathering (tm). Thus far I have the three tokens shown on this page ready to cast in large numbers as soon as I have the resin to do so, and I plan on twenty to fifty more token types as well as finding out from Wizards of the Coast if I can do specialty pieces requiring the use of copyrighted imagery. For now I hope to have the generics available in sets of ten by early summer, and model horses about the same time.
A note on the tokens: the Pegasus and Angel tokens are cast for sale in white resin, not black. Black was used for the test cast because it scans better to show the details. Also, these are unfinished tokens, with the casting flash still on the edges. Tokens sold will be sanded down to have straight, even edges.
