Shortie's Out of Sight Café is owned and operated by Lilian G. Grimes, and has been in business since September 2004.  The Café is open 8am - 4pm Monday through Friday, and is normally closed on weekends and holidays.  However, since Cary Band Day is such a big event, the Café is open on that day.  You can dine-in, take-out, call-in for pick up, and can even get an event catered.  You also can arrange to use the Café for meetings after-hours and on weekends - just contact Lily so all the requirements can be worked out in advance.  The Café currently only accepts cash or checks.

The Café has been a member of the Cary Chamber of Commerce since 2005, and was even mentioned in the Raleigh News & Observer Life section (August 30, 2006 - see link below).  There were also ads for the Café in the Cary Today magazine in June of 2005 and 2006.

The main customer base is students from Cary High School, and tenants of the building in which the Café is located, as well as some other nearby buildings. The students come in for lunch from 10:30-11:00, and again from 12:10-12:40.  So it's best to plan your lunch around those times if you want to avoid a crowd.

The menu consists of breakfast and lunch items - which are served all day long - and is mainly deli sandwiches and grilled items, as well as a few specialty items.  Speaking of specialty items - Lily is from the Philippines, so there are a few Filipino dishes on the menu, and several others that show up on quite often as Weekly Specials.  There are also meals under $2 called "Cheap Eats" that can fit into just about anyone's budget.  And the customers just rave about the chicken salad - with some folks coming back on a regular basis just for that.
