Sherry Hughes Beasley is a contemporary American poet. Her work has appeared in Carolina Quarterly, Pembroke Magazine, Iris, Southern Poetry Review, and many other literary publications. A finalist in the Virginia Prize for Poetry and a semi-finalist in the New Letters Poetry Contest, she is also the recipient of eleven literary prizes, including the Edgar Allen Poe Memorial Award. 
 
Sherry is a member of PETA, the ASPCA, and the Thoroughbred Retirement Foundation. She and her husband have two sons and live in southwest Virginia.
 
Former Poet Laureate of the United States Ted Kooser added Sherry to his "Valentine's list" for the final years that he kept it active.
