The Shepaug Dam Bald Eagle Observation Area in Southbury, Connecticut is open from
the third weekend of December through the first weekend of March on Wednesdays, Saturdays, and Sundays from 9 a.m. until 1
p.m. Reservations are required and
may be made by calling (800) 368-8954 from December
7th through March 5th, Tuesday through Friday, between the hours of 9 a.m. and 3 p.m.

139,800 people have visited the observation area since it was opened to the public
in 1986. The observation area was opened to the public during the 2013 winter eagle observation season a total
of 31 days. We had 3 weather related closing days; two from the same blizzard. 3,100 visitors came to the
Shepaug Dam during the 2013 bald eagle observation season. We averaged 6.2 eagles on each day of our 2013 observation
season. Our high eagle count for one day for 2013 was 15 eagles and our low count for one day was 0 eagles.
