Winter Season Programs             Directions to Trinity

BRS West is now Recorders/Early Music MetroWest

We have a new name, and will continue our same program!

Recorders/Early Music MetroWest was founded in 1999 as BRS-West (a
satellite program of the Boston Recorder Society) to encourage consort
playing and musician development in Boston's western suburbs. R/EMM
is a participatory early music program which serves the greater
MetroBoston area with consort classes, workshops and concerts.

We begin our sixth season in September 2004, welcoming 50 or more
early instrumentalists each month, with four or five coaches leading
consort groups at most meetings. Our members range in age from 17
to 70, and come from communities in New Hampshire, Rhode Island,
and Central Massachusetts as well as the metroBoston area.

Summer Reading Series

Calling all Singers & Early Instrumentalists!

Recorders/Early Music MetroWest invites you to our three Summer Music
Evenings at Trinity Episcopal Church, 81 Elm Street in Concord. Scores for
singers are provided; scores or parts for instrumentalists will be available
(please bring a music stand).

Suggested donation to support this program is $3. Refreshments are provided
at a break.

R/EMM's program director Sheila Beardslee organizes these informal music
evenings as an opportunity for singers and instrumentalists alike to
explore new repertoire and enjoy a few old favorites. Founder and director
of the REMM program since 1999, Sheila has led eight music performance and
study trips to Italy for talented amateur musicians. A graduate of the New
England Conservatory of Music, Sheila has taught at Wellesley College,
Tufts University and for workshops from Maine to Miami and many places in
between .

Q & A

Who is eligible for Recorders/Early Music MetroWest programs?
Anyone who enjoys early music, especially the recorder and its repertoire
spanning five centuries! REMM offers ensembles at four or five levels with
professional coaches (depending on monthly program). Players of other
early instruments -- viols, Renaissance reeds and brass, lute -- are also
welcomed. We offer several programs during the year for singers, too.
Do I have to be a member?
Your membership supports our programs and covers the cost of hiring the
very best coaches available, as well as a donation to Trinity Episcopal Church
for use of their space. Visitors are welcomed at a fee of $12/meeting
(applicable to REMM membership at that meeting). We encourage you to
consider membership in the American Recorder Society as well.
