The cap'n is a disabled military war veteran making the best of his life. He's retired from the US military with over 40 years of military service credit for retirement. Of those years, he wore the uniforms of both the US Army and the US Air Force. He's also retired from the US Federal Civil Service with over 39 years of service credit for retirement. He served with both the Department of Defense (US Army and US Air Force) and the Department of Transportation (Federal Aviation Administration).
The cap'n was a volunteer with the US Air Force Auxiliary for 6 years specializing in wireless communications and with the US Coast Guard Auxiliary for 2 years as a Recreational Vessel Safety Examiner.
The cap'n's ancestral family are Native American (Cherokee) and European Immigrants (Swedish, English, and French). He is descendanted from late 17th century French Huguenot refugees who settled along the James River village of Manakintown in the Colony of Virginia. He may also have historical ties with the most feared early 17th century North African Coast corsairs know as the "Sallee Rovers".
In 2002, the cap'n married Barbara Pesicka. They had known each other since their teenage days back in 1971. In 2003, they sold their home in Norman, Oklahoma and moved into their motorhome and traveled from coast to coast. After living on the road for 8 years, Barbara had a stroke which forced them to stop traveling. They leased a waterfront cottage overlooking the bay of Green Bay in the historical community of Oak Orchard, Wisconsin. Barbara passed away on Thanksgiving Day 2012 after a long struggle with diabetes.
In July 2013, the cap'n purchased a house on the Oconto River in Oconto, Wisconsin where he started rebuilding his life by starting a recreational boating business. On July 19th, 2014, he married Nancy Benchley of Menominee, Michigan. Nancy's husband had passed away 2 days before his wife Barbara.
