Shallow Focus Story -
The opposite of deep focus, shallow focus is a state where the subject is in clear focus, while the peripheral image is out of focus, most often achieved when using a long lens, wide aperture, or when there is a large gap in the distance between the subject and the lens versus everything else in the composition. It is particularly effective when trying to draw attention to one subject in a sea of similar subjects, like a person in a crowd. Our goal is to tell you stories with subjects so compelling, that nothing else matters. Be that subject a character, a story, a situation, or a prevailing mood, simple beginnings and endings have never been enough. Complete immersion into the storytelling experience has always been at the forefront of our creative video productions since 1989. What makes a good motion picture? That's between you and us. We won't be told what you want by anybody else. Shallow Focus Entertainment. You'll see what we want you to see! |
hitting the ground
running
Shallow Focus Entertainment's parent company Video Verite' Productions required a sensible solution to the issue of distribution. There is a saying that the entertainment industry is not where movies get made, it's where they don't get made. Too many sincere producers strive to get their productions accepted by distributors, only to find the marketing and sale of their work conditional on rewrites and reshoots at the producer's expense. This of course, is done to protect the distributor's investment, and is a legitimate practise. However, at Shallow Focus Entertainment, we feel that we know what audiences want to see: stories told in ways that are innovative and engaging. This isn't done by making them familiar to what they have come to expect from the entertainment industry, or even making them better than industry standard. True independent filmmaking doesn't exceed expectations, it redefines them. It's simple really. We chose to stand behind our own product. It seemed as though taking that gamble on ourselves was the only direction to go with a production company that has always played by its own rules. |
